'Tow to Go' program offered for Labor Day weekend

Friday, September 4, 2009 - AAA Auto Club South is continuing its holiday weekend tradition of offering rides home for drivers who may have had too much to drink in Florida. During the Labor Day weekend the auto club is teaming up with Budweiser to get both the intoxicated driver and the driver's vehicle home safely.

The "Tow to Go" program has been offered during holidays since 1998. AAA officials said the free rides home have kept more than 10,000 drunk drivers off the road over the past decade.

The free rides are confidential and offered to anyone leaving a bar or restaurant who may have had too much to drink. To get a ride and a vehicle towed home, call 800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357).

“AAA offers the 'Tow to Go' program because it protects everyone on our roadways, not just the intoxicated driver,” said Ed Schatzman, senior vice president of automotive services for AAA Auto Club South.
